optical vs. hall effect distributors

'91 efi L 5spd.
anyone really know if the hall effect and the optical sensor distributors are interchangable?
I would like to replace my optical with a more reliable and parts replaceable hall effect distributor.

I've read most of your posts on your fuel problem. I think mine is similar. My question is where are you finding these sensors. You stated you took your distributor apart and rebuilt it. Where did you find rebuild parts. Every place I have checked have said that the crankshaft position sensor is not a replaceable item???

so far that is the same answer I am getting, not available! I used a good used one out of another distributor but you may have to get a distributor somewhere. I may have to buy one also if mine goes bad again. I continue to search for the sensor, but so far no luck.

I installed the new optical sensor now all my ignition problems seem solved even the low speed miss or "pop"
