  • Ball Joint and CV axle....

Well i got my $75 festiva, and it was really pulling hard to the right. I ran the battery dead on accident, and while sitting in the car, I found the last inspection sheet on it. It passed 150 miles ago with flying colors on emissions. However it failed safety: Left side ball joint and CV axle.

I have never done a ball joint, and I'm not even sure what the CV axle is. I have done a left side HALF axle on my Aspire, as well as tie rod ends and stuff.

Is the CV axle, and the half axle the same thing? and what and where exactly is the "ball joint"

    Any help/pics would be appreciated......

The half shaft and cv axle are the same thing. The ball joint is part of the control arm and must be replaced as a unit. Here is the ball joint & control arm. http://tinyurl.com/2gmavw Here is an example of the cv axle. http://tinyurl.com/yrmhb3 Hope this helps.
