  • UN-BELIEVEABLE!!!!!!! im speechless

I dont even know what to say. Remember that knocking sound my car was making? Well i replaced my tranny and ITS STILL MAKING THE SAME NOISE

what NOW!?!?! I need this car mobile! I cant have it as just a weekend project money pit.

not only that... but i think i did something very VERY stupid. Over the cource of going around the block my clutch pedal slowly dropped to the floor. I think i forgot to put the bolt back in that holds the release fork to the shaft!!! :!: i am such a moron

Uhmmm... look like you have to take transaxle off and inspect it again and do again until all parts look fine and tight up/replace if any loose inside...

        May find it now

If it were moronic to error while working on our festys, I would think by now, I for one, would be sitting in a corner at the "care facility", drooling on my straight jacket!

Think of it as "FREE" education, and a lesson that lasts!

Did you try putting your festiva hub, back on the driver's side and see if the knocking went away. It almost sounds like there is something loose in that corner of the car. A rim that is not bolted down all the way will knock under deceleration, but will smooth out under acceleration. I don't think that is your problem, but you could have a really bad bearing, or maybe you forget to tighten up the pinch bolt all the way and the hub is moving up and down. But I definitely lean away from it being the tranny, if it was fine before you did the brake swap, and then right after the brake swap, something starts making noise. I would lean to the fact there is something wrong with the hub that you have. Maybe the axle bolt is tightened all the way? I don't know.

This goes for everybody. When you upgrade your car, upgrade one thing at a time. Then if there is some strange noise or a problem RIGHT AFTER the upgrade, 99% of the time it will a defective part in your upgrade. Especially when the upgrade uses used parts you don't know the history of. I personally lean against it being the control arms because they are factory replacement. You did change the tie rod ends when you did the swap, right? I would come up and help you work on this, but I am busy the next few weekends, and i have my own projects. If you were just around the corner it would be easier.
