i just bought a parts-tiva and they told me that all that was wrong with it was some sensor 'under the dash' that told the fuel pump to run. what would this be called if these statements are true? pretty sure its a 93, really basic no options, but she was the first owner, she bought it with 6 miles on it, it now has 154,xxx, not bad.

The fuel pump switch is located inside the VAF and isn't serviceable. There is a fuel pump relay under the center of the instrument panel. No "sensor " I know of. Have you tried resetting the inertia fuel pump shutoff switch yet ?? That would be cool if that was all that was wrong.sigpic

ok, what instrument panel, the gauges, speed-o and such? and where is this inertia fuel pump shutoff switch? i'd at least like to try it.
i only bought the car for the tires and the gas tank, but i'm going to try to remove as many parts as i can, that i might need to in the future (i don't have any long term storage area). but if i can get it running in the mean time, i might drive it for a while.

Ive never had to locate the fuel pump relay but the manual says you have to pull back the front edge of the carpet to get to it. My guess is that its up in the area where the toe on your left foot would be if you were sitting in the drivers seat. There should be a six spot connector with five wires going to it. GN/Y Y/BK BK/R GN/R BK. The relay just plugs into the connector you can just pull it out.
The fuel pump inertia switch is located in the rear cargo area. Open up your rear hatch and to your left on the strut tower there is an access panel. open that up and and push the button inside. Easy !sigpic

is this the right part, i'm not sure if i pulled off the fuel pump relay. and if the button in the rear drivers side is a "kill" switch, how do i 'undo' the kill, is it some sort of toggle? so far i can't hear the fuel pump running, but i think it wants to run.

I don't think Ive ever seen one of the fuel pump relays but as far as the inertia switch you just have to push the button to reset it. I'm not sure but I think the engine has to be cranking before the pump will come on.sigpic

What I was wondering was if you ground the fuel pump self test connector will that close the relay and allow the pump to run w/o the engine cranking ?sigpic
