Okay, anyone who has checked my Batstiva Update thread in the general discussion area knows I've been having a few issues. So, here's my question. What exactly does a MAP sensor do, and if it was going bad what would it do. Can they intermittently go bad, then good? Having a problem where my car runs, but idles fast if I disco the MAP sensor, but runs like crap with it connected. By runs like crap, I mean the car will not stay running unless I am on the gas all the time. Atleast that's what it did today. Yesterday it ran fine with the MAP sensor hooked up. Can't seem to lay hands on my Haynes, so flying blind a little bit here. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, so I am assuming that if the MAP sensor was bad, I would be getting incorrect air/fuel mix at the carb, which would cause the car to run either too lean, or too rich. In which case, the problem should be solved when my new one gets here tomorrow or Friday. Thanks for the response, was pretty sure that's what it did, but can't lay hands on my manual because I foolishly lent it to my brother, who never returns anything.
