  • four stubborn rear axle bolts - help

    need some advice-
there are four 14mm bolts that hold the rear axle to the rear assembly on the festiva. i can't get them to budge. should i use a breaker bar or an impact wrench? (i have a feeling that the breaker bar will snap the bolts.)
    your opinion?[/img]

Spray them with PB blaster and let them soak for 30 minutes or so. I myself would use a 18"-24" breaker bar...they won't snap off you just don't have enough strength to bust them loose with a 12" rachet.

Spindle Bolts or nuts? the "nuts" are on the back of the swingarm behind the shock, the bolts are pressed into the spindle and the heads will break off, I've done it! you may have to remove the shock but usually you can get around it with a 3/8 drive and the nuts will come off. hope you get this before you break the heads off the "bolts".

I about gave my self a hernia at the salvage yard trying to get a spindle off...then I realized I needed to take the nuts off from the backside and it was much easier

^ the four spindle bolts are splined and dont turn, you'll have to press them out.
