  • Strange sound...

when i'm driving less than 50km/h (30mph) everything is ok... but when a go over 50 i heard a strange noise coming from the engine, and the speedometer went up and down from 10 km/h but the car still run at the same regular speed. It is less important when i'm driving at 65km/h...

When i slow down, i still hear the sound but not as loud as when i drove at 50...

    so:

0-50 = no sound, everyhing ok
50-65 = strange noise, like a clapping or something like that, speedo range change is about 10 km/h
65-more = strange noise, like a clapping or something like that, speedo range change is about 4 km/h

back again at less than 50 = more quiet clapping sound, no speedo variation

    what does it mean... :?

PS: Deeply sorry for my english

Could the sound be coming FROM the speedo? They can get pretty noisy when they go bad...

Try lubricating the speedo cable with some graphite.

could be one of the splash guards around the front wheels or the one around the steering rack that are loose and start flapping in the wind at high speed.
my speedo cable started making noise last winter.pulled the cable out of the housing and soaked it in 80-90w gear oil,put it back together and have had no problem with it since.if you live in a very cold climate you may want to use automatic trans fluid instead.
