Code 17...Feedback System...the ECU is trying to change something and the O2 sensor is not picking up the change.
Still intersted....will scan the book and post.

STI..check engine light test works for all ECU's...the only pproblem is locating the STI connector that has to be grounded...different per model/year.

Chapter 6 of the Haynes manual is a great start for anyone intereted in getting started.

jg posted to ground the connector with the green and yellow wire and count the flashes, but the discussion is not for a '90. My question asked if this test applies to the 1990 as well.

Hi packrat; I just reviewed a lot of your posts from '06 where you were having problems very similar to the one's that I'm experiencing. When I posted 'died' in the road, I meant that giving it gas acted as if I had cut the key off and I could coast to the side of the road, feather the gas pedal and clutch and finally get it going again. At idle, mine also does the erratic up and down rmp. What did you find to be the problem with yours?

Well .. everyone has their thoughts , but I tried everything and nothing worked ..until I set the TPS , but it still was not 100% , so I moved it just a hair more , and all those problems went away .
Call it a fluke , I don't know , I blamed it a little on throttle shaft wear and TPS wear , and went a little high on spec limit .

It has been 2 years and the problem has never returned .
The only thing that did happen , was in a very hard down pour , at highway speeds , I had it shut off like I turned the key off , I think that was a wet connector on the VAF .

Thanks, pack. I've replaced the TPS and went through the OHM meter checks to set it; still having problems. And jg, I have no idea what desufnoc means.
