  • Ran out of gas, now won't start! HELP!

Last night I ran out of gas and my wife brought my 3 gal tank and filled her up and then went to start it and it turned over fine but WOULD NOT START! I even disconnected the fuel line at the fuel filter and checked and fuel pressure was steady. I think it flooded the combustion chamber...?? But i don't know what the problem is. I checked the distributer connections, spark plug wires to spark plug connection and everything.. Any thoughts??
    Thanks in advance.

DID you run out of gas or was the tank low when it quit?

check the roll over switch located in the trunk you may have tripped it you never know?? there should be a small acess panel in the cargo area to it. Also check the coil wire, coil, and air leaks to the intake/vaf

I'm too poor to pay attention! I didn't read enough about the fuel pump running and pressure.

Also, you may want to check the fusible links.

I've ran out of gas 5 times in my Festiva....1st...at 40+ mpgh i loose track....2nd..never had a poblem previously.
Before you go any further (changing a fuel pump) maybe you weren,t out of fuel.
Also, if you check for fuel flow prior to the fuel filter...a really bad fuel filter that runs dry is definetly shot.

Probly not your problem, but the last time I reached down in to the fuel filter I knocked the coil wire loose at the coil with my elbow and didn't notice. kind frustrating til I saw the coil wire, then positioned my self properly in front of the butt kicking machine and hit the "ON" button.

before you replace the fuel pump be sure to either bench test it or use a jumper wire to test. a new pump is around $150.
Where am I, and what am I doing in this handbasket??
