its not that hard to drop the gas tank just have a good size hydrualic floor jack and good size (2'X2') peice of plywood to put between the jack and the tank so you don't damage it... then its just two bolts and it drops down a couple inches and disconnect all the fuel lines and drop it straight down carefully. Sometimes the fuel line coming from the pump can collapse and it will drop the pressure enough to cause the vehicle not to crank, even if it has fuel at the cylinders and spark... we've had that happen twice before (my family owns three astros, two vortec and one with the old TBI injection). When that happens you just have to replace a piece of fuel line a few inches long and its running like new again. If ya got any questions about these vans feel free to PM me and I'll try to answer as best I can, we've learned about most of their little querks from owning them for that past 8 years lol

I agree with elcamino 1., try giving it a snort of starting fluid or carb cleaner. If it runs off of that then it's a fuel problem. As for the autozone fuel pump I would steer clear. A friend of mine went thru 2 of them within 3 months and finally went with an AC delco pump and hasn't had trouble since and that's been 2 years ago.

Broke down and had the local service station (great reputation) do the work. Time with family more important than time with van.
Thanks for all the tips and advice. It was the fuel pump....Ian
