  • Another silly B6 rebuild question

Ok, how do i get this disk off the crankshaft so i can remove the timing belt?

Ive been going by festiva books which are for the B3 but mostly the same.. but not here. on my festiva the pulley was just bolted to the sprocket iirc. Dose that big bolt have to come out? if so how do i hold the crankshaft?

yes, that big bolt needs to come out. I use an impact gun. If you don't have that, put two bolts back in the flywheel end of the crank, and place a prybar between them. Let the prybar rest against the engine stand. Then use a breaker bar to loosen the bolt in the snout.

if it still moves then stick a bunch of small roap down the spark plug hole and the it will stay put. that works good on small motors but i dont know how well it will work in a "big" motor
