  • Head bolt source?

I cant find anyone selling head bolts for my Aspire? I may need to change my head gasket, and I know I cant reuse my head bolts, but no one seems to sell them...Any ideas?

As he was perfectly drifting past the apex I looked at Quasimofo and yelled "You know, I have never been in a rollover accident before!"... I think it all went pretty well after that.

Really? I thought that was a bad idea...

But I guess if you cant find them...

I wonder if the same bolts are used on the SOHC 1.6?

most of the time it is a bad idea, but parts stores don't have them around here, and the manuals I looked at never say anything. Conversely, my escort HAS to have new bolts, stretching is designed into them, and there is no specific final torque value, just turn increments after an initial torque value. So I just went with it, and haven't had any problems. If they can be found though, I would like to know where, since it is a good idea to replace them.

Good luck, and also, I checked each of mine to be sure they were all exactly the same length. If you have differing lengths, then stretching has happened, and replacement would be a must....

I would be tempted to go to a parts store and have them match me up with something.

B3 and B6 head bolts are reuseable. Asian manufacturers didn't adopt TTY (Torque To Yield) fasteners till the mid '90's for cost reasons.
