  • Cruise Control

Anyone have any information on cruise control for the Festiva? I see the turn signal switchs w/ cruise control on e-bay, but what good are they without the rest of the set-up? Let me know if anyone has an idea about this. Thanks.

there very tricky. theres alot more to it than the switch. Ive pulled two different after-market setups from cars in the jy and i cant get ither to work. i also have a factory setup.. but i dont have the speed sensor.

Why bother with Cruise Control? Maybe it's me, but cruise control where I live is a waste - I live in the mid-Atlantic region and there are too many crazy drivers to ever be able to cruise. Beside I noticed that the Festiva is very easy on the foot. I find that I can hold the pedal on my Festiva for a couple of hours before it bothers me. By that time, I want to get out and get a bite and walk around a little. I also noticed that I get my best gas mileage when i "dead foot" the car. Dead footing is when you hold the throttle in one position - cruise control varies the throttle to keep the car speed constant - dead footing, the car will speed up and down based on the load. When I dead foot the Festiva, I can get almost 50 MPG's. Unfortunately, safety and traffic won't allow you to do this technique very often. Now, if I'm using my Mercedes, I use that cruise control a lot. - The pedal on that thing is STIFF. The car itself is extremely seductive - the faster you go, the faster it wants to go. I need to use it to keep my license, otherwise I would be spending all my money on tickets - LOL!
Bottom line - If you want Cruise, don't let me stop you, but in my personal opinion, it isn't worth a lot of effort. Besides this car is so much fun to drive, I wouldn't feel right sitting back, letting the cruise push me along. The Festiva is an interactive driving machine - look out Wii - LOL!

Also live in Mid-Atlantic...cruise control should be outlawed....how may times I'm behind a person driving 55mph with cruise on in the right hand lane and in the left hand lane is another driver with the cruise on driving 56mph. Or how many drivers in the right hand lane come upon an on ramp and refuse to adjust their speed for merging traffic.

If you didn't know it...al cars come with cruise control....it's called the floor pan...press the pedal down until it hits the floor pan

I bought that unit for $99 my 5th festiva. I sat on it for like 6 or 8 years. Then sold it on ebay for $108. Go figure.
I do LOVE cruise control though. My escort GT that I bought for my swap has cruise. If I can fit in there I'm going
to keep it on the BP.
