  • Which distributor???

I'm going out tomorrow and check the local junk yards for a distributor for my '90 Festie. Which other model years have the same distributor? I'd like to get the newest possible. And what other car cars have the same distributor? Thanks for all the help I've received on the board.

90-93 EFI should all be the same

the autos in 89 were EFI but i think they used a different dist.

And obviously the 88/89 carbd dists are diffrent

I found one '91 festiva and the dist. is $70.00; new/rebuilt one's at AutoZone is $160. I'm going down in a couple of hours to pick up the 91. I'm a little concerned buying a 17 year old part; is there anything specific that I could check to make sure I'm getting a good part? There are no returns.

If you don't need it ASAP then I'd suggest posting in the Forsale/wanted section. I'm sure you could get one from someone here way less than $70.

$70 is a rip, especially if theres no warranty. you can get 1/2 a parts car for that

I've got an extra you can have for $20. It came off a insurance writeoff at the j/y so the car was running/driving when it was junked.

I bought a junk distributor a while back but the ignition control module was shot. It had a junkyard warranty but the junkyard does not warranty electronics so I had to keep it.

Thanks stefan, I may take you up on it. I just posted the Festie for sale and if I have any takers, I won't need it. If I don't get any positive feedback by Sunday, I'll buy it from you. How do we do this and is it authorized for us to discuss it here?

How do you guys/gals add the picture to your signature? All I can do is add the link.

Your chances of getting a bad distributor from the JY are high. A rebuilt dist. is the only way I will go.

Thanks, da; that's just what I did.

Stef, thanks for your offer and I'm sure you'd sell me a good part. But I've decided if I'm going to spend the money, I'll buy new. Thanks again.

No prob, just trying to help out. $20 is what i paid for it at the j/y. I just grab them whenever i see them with low miles out of totaled cars. Cause it seems to be a common problem.
