Egr valve not working

95 aspire se
pulled egr valve, put had vacume pump on it it opens ,I'm not getting vacume off motor to egr valve. I checked for lisa or missing vacuum lines found none .Check engine lite comes on after a few miles of driving ,fuel mileage is terrible, no power ,I.changed cap rotor wires ,it didnt help.

My only experience is with the EGR on a carburetted Festiva but I've had it off and cleaned with solvent to prevent sticking. Only time the light came on was a loose hose. Maybe if you try pushing the hoses on tight?
