  • dash board ping

I'm getting a soft "ping" from behind the instrument cluster from time to time and am wondering what's doing it and if something needs to be repaired back there. Any ideas? Thanks.

Temporarily disconnect your odometer cable and see if the noise goes away.

Is the odometer cable the same as the speedometer cable? The needle on the speed display has not been skipping around any.

Seems it was the check engine light. A faulty temperature sensor was turning on the light, sometimes steady bright for a minite or two, sometimes just a dim flicker, and sometimes just a ping and no light. At least that what it looks like because the faulty senor has been replaced and the light and pings have both stopped.
