  • Crank shaft

hi re-post. I need to replace my crank shaft seal. Can I just purchase the crank shaft seal, or are there other gaskets I’ll need to purchase to get to the crank shaft seal? Thank you.

You should place a sleeve over the crankshaft snout. There will be a groove were the seal rode.

Replace the camshaft seal as well.

This is also a good time to replace other parts. Timing belt, water pump, belt and hoses. You got to take them off. Put new stuff on.

There are two sizes of crankshaft seals. If you have the pre February 1992 small nose crank, the front crank shaft and camshaft seals are the same size. If you have the large nose crank the crank seal will be larger.
