  • Idle issues...

Here's the story. I have an 88 festiva L. Recently, I changed out the air cleaner assembly with one that I found in a salvage yard. My old one was rusty and had several holes. My problem is that my idle changed when I put the new air cleaner assembly on. It is significantly HIGHER and I cant get it to come down. Ive tried adjusting the idle using the knob on the carb but it gets to the point where it is all the way out and it is still high. I dont really know what else to check. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Sounds like a vaccum leak to me. Are you certain you hooked the new one up exactly as the old one was? Although, having said that, I looked at another 88 the other night, and the vaccum hoses were not done at all on that one the way they are on mine. Just a thought.

Yes. Everything is hooked up fine. I even checked to make sure that none of the lines were clogged or anything like that, and yes, they are exactly the same. I just think it odd that the one in much better condition is making it idle high.
