  • Electrical Help please....

Okay, so I posted a few weeks back that my alternator belt broke off and when putting a new one on I sparked the alternator when hitting the posts with my wrench. Then the car went dead and wouldn't start. Well, I jiggled the 3 fuses on the main under the hood at all was well. At least for a while. Now, I noticed when listening to just my radio with the car not running it would all of a sudden just kick off and then a few seconds later kick back on like every 3 to 4 minutes. Strange. Then today, the radio completly went dead while driving down the road. Then when I stopped to get out the seat belt stopped working. Got back in to start the car. Nothing. wiggled the fuses, started back up. Wen to auto parts store bought 3 new fuses. 30/40/30 replaced. Everything seemed fine until I stopped again. Car would turn over but not start. wiggled the fuses, car started. Any ideas here? I hate electical problems. Have no clues. thanks Jim

Sounds like loose or dirty connections in the engine compartment fuse box. That has come up on here before so a search would bring up information on how to clean the connections. I recall seeing phtos. Sorry, have not done that myself so cannot offer hints or suggestions.

PS It's usually recommended to disconnect the negative battery cable when working on the electical system to prevent sparks, shorts, and unintentional engine movement and starting.
