Hey all! I've been trolling here fir awhile. Figured I'd register and post. I'm a diy guy trying to get this 3 wheeled contraption going that just so happens to have an older festiva motor in it. It turns over but has no fuel pump on and no spark. Story goes, older gentleman drove it one day and it wouldn't start the next. I'm mechanically inclined, but definitely no expert. I can verify the fuel pump works, but it has to be jumped. When cranking im only getting 10.3v at the pump. I have 12v at the coil, but no spark. I haven't verified time yet...not sure how. But for sure have no spark. I'm think it maybe the vaf or the collar deal behind the distributor? Still reading posts on here trying to find out how to test those...nobody in our small town will touch this, so im trying to learn.

Spark issue sounds like broken timing belt, thats what happened to me. I removed my distributor cap, proped my phone up and recorded the distributor rotor as i cranked the starter motor for a second. Replayed the video, the rotor didnt turn so I knew my belt was broken. If youre going to work on this car it is so 100% worth the money to buy a shop manual for it. It will include how to check, and repair everything on the car. Update if you figure out what the problem was!
