FYI
New to the festies. Bought one and am getting the bugs out. So I bought a manual transmission starter rebuilt that was a deal and planned to convert it to the automatic tranny.. Watched a video on utube that says it will work. All that was needed was to change the face plate. Nope. Spend 4 days scratching my head. Then it hit me why it was acting like it was totally out of time. The starters have different rotations. I verified it with the local starter rebuilder and he even thought I was wrong but he checked his book and sure enough I was right. I figured this out while I was eating lunch so I could not get to the house and pull the distributor cap to verify so I just went by the rebuild shop. The reason is the starters mount on opposite sides of the flywheel.
