  • could you pop this out?

what do you think? could you take the interior panel out and maybe get behind it with a 2x4 or something and just pop it right out? or would the gas tank get in the way?

I have never had that interior panel out , But I think that metal there is 2 piece ,
I am sure you could get some of it out , but most likely not all of it .

It is worth a try ,I would .

You could weld/rivet some small rods the out side and use a slide hammer to pull it out....i think ive seen body shops do that before but then you gotta paint and prep

Nowadays they have a glue stick that applies to the painted surface that does no harm to the paint and you can pull dents out with there special slide hammer they have with their kit. But yes that dent is accessable underneath that panel by the rear seat

From the inside is a good idea....there is some metal webbing inside that may bake it difficult....I would start that way.
With all said...no matter what you do...it's going to require some body filler (bondo)...I cann't tell from the picture but if its not that deep....just remove the paint and apply body filler.

There is a bunch of stuff in that area going from the tank to the filler neck. I dont think you could get to the outside metal. Youve got filler hoses, overflow hoses, vapor hoses, etc. You might have to get all that stuff out of the way first.

remove the interior pannel. behind it is the filler neck, breather line and evap canister (not charcoal canister). remove the canister and you should have decient access to the dent.

yeah, i've got a friend that said he'd pull all the dents out and paint it for $1000. but he also wants my old festiva, so maybe i can work a trade. but should i get rid of the geezer? it would make me sad.

Which would make you feel worst ? Driving around with that dent or to be $1000 and one geezer short ?

wow, everytime I see what you've done to your car Max, I remember reading about your post where you said you'd rebuild it for sure & thinking, .oO( yeah sure...) It never cease to amaze me.

As for the dent, I would trade your festy for thew repair, sounds like the body guy wants one bad enough. It would go to a good home? I hope? Did he say if he wanted it as a beater?
