Getting 0700 (trans control sys malfunction) and 0731(gear 1 ratio incorrect) codes on a new/used trans that I just put in a 2005 jeep liberty. starts in 1st, goes to second, stays there. jeep has 80k on it, JY claimed the trans (from a 2005 dakota) had only 5k on it. All connections tight, new filter, full of fluid.

Isn't this indicative of a bad speed sensor?

    UPDATE
    Output speed sensor was bad!

I think...from memory...the code is created because the engine RPM and MPH's don't match.
Do you have ABS? The reason I ask, I think this code is linked to the wheel pulse pick up the counts the wheel revolutions. The code indicates excessivie transmission slip or wrong final gear ratio.
