Once or twice in the past my 93 Festy has just all of a sudden started to run like crap. I'd tinker around with it thinking it had to be wires, plugs, cap, filters or something like that. Both times it would start running fine again so I thought I was a great mechanic and had fixed it. It happened again yesterday. Running boggy, stuttering, smoking, no power. I could keep it going by kind of finding a sweet spot in the accelerator but something was definitely wrong.

    woops....hadn't finished that post yet.
anyway, I changed wires, cap, rotor.....no difference.
Took out the fuel filter and blew it out best I could.....no difference.
    Cleaned air filter......no difference.
Then I was messing around with the MAF.
I unplugged and plugged it in a couple times and now it runs fine.
Must be the connection was oxidized or something.
anyway this might help someone with the same problem.

The VAF connection causes a lot of problems like that , also when they get wet .
