I'm about to buy an 88 LX stever with 59,000 on it so i can put fewer miles on my 2CV. (here's a performance tip for y'all: if you're not happy with your feisty's performance, drive a 2 cylinder car for a month, and you'll swear you have an afterburner. The only way my Citroen would hit 90MPH would be if you pushed out of a C-130 at 25,000 ft.) I owned a new one back in 88. I seem to recall an issue with EGR. I'm worried about this one passing Cal Smog. Evidently Ford had a recall and they used blanking plates to block the EGR to improve drivability, but with the EGR blocked it won't pass smog.

Any suggestions?

pull it off and check for the plate, as for it being clogged sea foam should clean that
