my windows dont roll up and down smooth, is this a calmon problem? do the door panals just pop off and pop on? do i need new scissors or just bushings? some times i have to use two hands to get the window up.

A good lubing will do wonders, good time to lube all the locks and linkage inside the door while you are at it. The windows on Redford started working well after a little lubing.

A common problem. Sometimes it's not even the regulators, but just the seals on the sides that cause the problems. A good lube should help though.

the windows on the DeathEgg are hard to roll down, but only when it's cold outside (not a prob in SoCal), but back in Pittsburgh, sometimes I couldn't get them to open (turnpike toll booth for example) and had to open the door.
Why does it happen only in cold? Has anyone else experienced this?

They never work when it's really cold out(say below zero F). However, I took opened mine up last fall, cleaned and lubed them and that made a huge difference.

I found that mine rolled down a lot easier with the door opened, then shut. Not sure what difference that should have made, but it did. A little vasealine
                  did the trick nicely.

I have a tool that I bought, hard to describe. It can be found in the help section of your local auto parts store. Looks kinda like a pickle fork, it slides under the door panel, and pops the little plastic buttons out without damaging them, so they can be reused. It looks just like this one, I paid $5 for it

works like a charm, and it has pinch hit in a lot of other situations for me. To remove the window crank, just slide a small towel under it, pull it back and forth, moving around in a circle, until the little metal "circlip" pops out, then the crank slides right off. To replace, just push it in, and spin it around until it pops on...

My driver side regulator got so bad that I ripped the handle off of it before I could fix it. Replaced it with one from the JY.
When the passenger side went bad...took it apart...cleaned it and bent it a little bit (more curve)...I think when it gets cold...the window shrinks and curves more than the regulator and slides causing the binding....It has worked fine since.

hi, i've just purchased a '93 festiva (awesome 49mpg). my windows don't roll up straight. i opened the panel, and it looks as though the plastic guides are worn out. does anyone know where i can get new ones??

I used a little silicone grease on the rubbers once the window was open. I mean a little! On this side of the pond, it's available in plumbers merchants for plastic pipes.

I have this problem too, in an RX7. I lubed it and fiddled with it and reset the mounting of the roller system all without a lot of success. I finally took it to a windshield shop and they said the roller mechanism and tracks were likely bent and would need replacing. so if lubing does not work, you may need new rolling parts.
