  • Shifter/Stabilizer bar

First off, I apologize if this is in the wrong spot, feel free to move it where it should be, admins.

Ok, like many of you, the rubber "boot" on my shifter has broken, and the durn thing tried to fall out of my car. I did the sheet metal screw fix, but it still is tough to change gears. I have a 93 ford escort LX that I am parting out. The bars on this have bends in them, but the "working length" appears to be the same, and the bends may not get in the way. I am going to test this out monday. If it works, I will take pics, and do a write up. If not, I have found an aspire near me that has a 5 spd in it. I do not know the year or model yet. Does anybody know if the shifter/stabilizer from these will "plug-n-play" in a 93 festiva L 5 speed?

Ok...I'l take a stab at it.
If the center to center distance of both strut holes is the same and the thru hole is the is the same diameter and depth (uses the same bolt) it should work....if you can get it to fit regardless of the bend. My only quest is do you think the bend in the second hand part is from the factory or from soemthing worst?

Oh, that is for the escort one, yeh it has bends from the factory. I am behind schedule, and am gonna try it out tomoorow, and let you guys know if it works. Could be an awesome fix, escorts are easy to find, at least around here. I was wondering if the aspire was just "plug-n-play", that would be nice. I would like to figure out the escort though, if nothing else, if it fiits through the body going inside the car, you could cut the escort bar off, and weld up the festy bar, and viola, like new shifter

        Thanx for answering!
