  • Front strut question

I'm about to order front struts online and I'm wondering if there is a difference between driver and passenger side, or are they the same? When looking at websites it gets confusing.

I'm not aware of any differences between the 2 of them.

They should not be....or...change both...why....since 1920 something...or something like that....never do whell matenance in just a wheel alone...always do it in an axle set.
If one strut faia. ..change both...if one one caliper fails...change both...if on tire fails cahnge both...if one bearing set fails...change both...................period any less is askig for trouble.

          ^^

even through his slightly altered state of mind this evening he makes a good point: if your going to do one strut do them both.

to answer your question though, there IS a difference in front struts. One side has the brake line bracket on one side of the strut, the other has the brake line bracket on the other side of the strut. Not a big difference, but you want to right one. When i put my GR2's on the front it was like 1230am and i wasn't thinking about that, until i had the pass side installed and realized the brake line bracket was on the back of the strut! oops. So i had to take it off again.

That is the only difference in the front struts though.

OK thanks. I'm going to replace struts and mounts too. When I look them up some say left and right and some don't. I'll have to be careful when ordering.

Whoever came up with the Aspire swap idea is a genius. Improves ride, braking, handling, everything. I can go 80 mph and no steering wheel jiggle at all. Smooth as silk. Thanks for a great website!

I know. I'm still tossing that idea around. I swear I can't stop messing around with it. Fun cars to modify. I have an Aspire 1.3 in it now and it runs great so I'm not in a big hurry.
