i know i need an oil filter wrench, any specific kind? adjustable?

oil filter you can sometimes get off with your hands. you will need to get a spark plug socket, 6 inch extension and a ratchet to get the spark plugs out. make shure you thread them in right or you are up the creek.

I have an oil filtre wrench which doesn't work (too big) and one that does. If you are thinking of buying an oil filtre wrench at a parts store (eg Canadian Tire) try it out first on one of their replacement oil filtres to see if it fits. The oil filtre (on my carb'd '89) can be replaced from above. I loosen it from above and let it drop into a plastic oil drain pan I shove under the car.

Replace the wires, rotor, and rotor cap, check the timing when done. If not, you are not doing a "complete" tune up.....Oil filters come off by hand, usually. One old trick, get a leather belt(cloth will work ok as well). Wrap it around the filter a couple of times, and PULL! You leave both ends free, hold one end tight, pull with the other to turn in the right direction(lefty loosey ), and that usually will loosen it....

a good oil filter wrench is very useful (espeically those ones you can put on an impact wrench)! don't expect that your oil filter will come off easily, especially depending on who(or where) it was replaced, dealerships and some shops sometimes do not lubricate the oil filter rim before putting it on, and that makes it one hell of a good time getting it off...

did u lubricate the plug's thread's with anti-seize before putting them in? if not i'd recommend taking them back out and doing that before they have a chance to seize.

Good idea scitzz! i wish i would have done that with my grandfathers Tundra, we had no oil filter wrench that would fit, so we stuffed sandpaper, cloth, a piece of belt inside of the wrench trying to get the wrench to fit! i wish i would have thought of that then..

I wish it were mine! I got it from some old guy. I usually get my ideas from some old guys somewhere. I have made a habit all my life of going to the oldest guy I can find, and asking them how to fix my problem, they usually have an answer, and are glad somebody actually listens to their wisdom.....
