  • Parts Question

Anybody know what an "Idle Air Speed Motor' is? A mechanic called me needing one for a Festy customer and I have looked at Ford Festy Service Manual and cannot find what it is. The customers car is a '90's efi auto with 17,000 original miles. The customer inherited it from his mom. I will let it be known to one said customer that I am available for purchasing of one said low mileage Festy!!

Idle air speed motor is a little plunger on the t/b that helps meter the amount of air going into the engine to regulate your idle speed.

Huh. Called my store and I don't sell it. Looked at my trusty Haynes manual and see photos of two different intakes. So, I go and look at my 90 efi. I do not see a IAC. What I do see is a vacuum diaphragm above the throttle linkage kinda like a old style off idle circuit on a carb. I think this is what controls the idle on our cars not a electronic IAC.

Idle Speed Control - Bypass Air Valve is the correct name and it is on the 1.3L.

Festivas do not have an idle speed control motor. A lot of EFI cars do, but Festivas make do with the idle air bypass, and an air bleed screw on the TB. The bypass valves are a dime a dozen at the wreckers, and easy to get.

no, Jim. Kevin (qaking) is correct. Festies do have an IAC. Its remote mounted, which is why you may not have noticed it.
