Timing marks for Valve Timing

I am trying to figure out if my valve timing is off and just wondering if I have to pull the crank pulley off or if there are marks on the pulley that are supposed to line up somewhere. I'm taking it all apart tomorrow, but if I don't get any responses I'm taking off the pulley and doing a timing belt. Thanks.
