  • Quick fuse help

The question is: what can I use to replace The main fuses in the engine compartment. What amperage should they be? (brown, red)

    History....
Well I was looking at the engine yesterday and noticed that on the main fuse box (the one with 3 fuses) it's supposed to have 2 brown fuses and a red one. well it has 3 red ones! (that appear to be home-made with standard wire) I went to the gas station and they don't have what I wanted, can I get an equivalent? they showed me one that looks like a 3d "U" upside down? can I use one of those?

    Thanks!

Yes, go to a parts store where they specialize in that kind of stuff.

They are a veryyy common item. Should be nice and cheap too.

I picked up a bunch the other day at the yard. For some reason, my car kept blowing the main fuse (middle)... After spending $4 a piece on 3 of them, it was too much to keep replacing.

If you were in the US, I'd ship some over. Not sure how Costa Rica is on shipping rates though.

                Thank you

Thank you for all your answers!

I found some fuses last weekend.

                they're like this:

in The picture says Brown fuses are 70 AMP and red is 50 AMP is this correct?
Or should I use other amperage?

BTW In my country there are not many junkyards, people use the cars until they disappear as rust :?
Junkyards are not very common and it's difficult to find anything useful.

                Thanks!

Do not use the colors on the fuse holder as an indication of the color of fuse to use in this application. It does not apply to the style of fuse that you a switching to. Use the Pink(30A) and Green(40A) as shown in the picture earlier in this thread.
