Its just a ground for the dome light. I dont know what route it takes to get there but it ends up in the dome light.

i'm worried that it is *inside* the bottom floorboard panel. And probably going to be difficult to fish out

Pull the fuse before you do anything, it will blow it if the wire makes contact somewhere while you are trying to do any of this. It comes out of an access hole on the inside where the seat belt is mounted right there. I would try to get it with needle nose pliers first from the out side. If that doesn't work pull the rocker panel cover (don't forget the screw all the way at the front of it) yank it up to release the u shaped metal clips, pull the seat out (14mm socket, 2 bolts, 2 nuts), peel off the windlace(the u shaped vinyl trim around the door opening),remove the one loooooong screw in the side panel deep in a recess where the arm rest is moulded in, then the panel pops out with small metal clips holding it to the sheet metal just far enough to get into the space behind the panel The wire will be right there red with a blue stripe.

The wire comes from the dome, down the A piller then under the sill. It spits somewhere to run over to the passenger door. It is the ground from the dome lamp, the switch completes the ground circuit to the chassis thru the flange (case) of the switch. If the broken wire touches ground the lamp will come on. A fuse should not blow. Best, until it gets fixed is to turn the dome to the off position so the lamp does not turn on while the car is parked.

            WOW

That has to be the most descriptive & helpful replies I have ever gotten!

I'm all into the wiring right now, just got the sub to run again. I'll try to fish out that wire & do the necessary repairs. I have a spare door switch in my trunk of goodies.

Hey Fresh, can I see the bottom of that diagram? It would give me exactly where the door switch wiring goes.

...yah, mine sticks. Won't let me out of the car sometimes. Or it will just sporatically got back and forth like someone else is controlling it. People get a kick out of it.
