I left the grocery store, turned key and it spun, turned key again and it spun,,then it cranked right up, the sound was like turning the key to start car when it is already running,,,,any ideas what may have caused the starter to act like this..... :?:

Could this be the solenoid inisde the starter failing intermittently so the gears don't engage? Used to ba a standard beginner excercise in HS automotive classes to remove and rebuild a sarter motor.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

^^I was think that is the actual problem....however....i was scared to say the 'bendix' went bad....not sure many know that term.
The solenoid and the stater motor are probalbly good....the linkage between them (bendix) is what is most likely acting up.
I don't know if you can ghet that part for a Fetsiva starter.
Years ago you bought a starter as component pieces and put it together yourself.Joe Lutz
