  • engine mods

Hey all, just got my festiva and just signed up. I'm wondering what mods can be made to the basic engine and what to expect form them performance wise. Can the flywheel be lightened? Does anyone make pistons for this beast? Can it be bored to a larger displacement safely. I have seen all the talk of the swaps you can do, I would just rather keep the stocker and lean on it a little. Also, what is the largest wheel and tire combo that can be shoved under it without dragging the tires on the bodywork? I'm hoping to build a budget traffic bomber to make the commute a little more fun up here north of the border.

    Thanks,

If your looking for more power, find a basic B6 SOHC engine, direct drop in, significantly more power.

      Also, FMS street cams.

giddyup, thanks and yes I will try to get my head around this sites different offerings. What car did the b6 come out of and would the motor out of an old escort gt fit in any reasonable way. Also, who makes springs to drop this little piggy? I know I'm probably in the wrong forum but you guys were nice enough to respond so I may as well get a little more out of this thread before starting a new one. Oh yeah, what's the stock hp and gvw on these things?

        Cheers

Magic stuff, just that is enough to get me off to the races. I've got to get my tach mounted in the next couple of days. Got a new wheel as well. Going to machine myself a custom shift knob, I'd love to use Ti but in VAncouver there's one supplier so the prices are crippling. Aluminum or delrin it is then.

              Cheers all.
