    I think the mounting bolts require two different size sockets although I don't remember what they where. They may not have been original bolt when I did mine though so who knows. You should be able to get a small tool set pretty cheap if you don't have the right size. It will save you a lot of money in the long run.

          ok its a 12 and a 14, i got it checked and it works fine at autozone, i got a new belt and going to see if that was the problem all along, but gotta get the alt back in.

            Told ya I would forget When you get the alt in, fire her up. Grab a multimeter, and check that there is the correct voltage getting to the battery. Funny thing, most alts give 14.4 volts, but mine, fresh from the factory(well 36k), only put out about13.5 volts, and the 2 alts since then have been the same.
            Anyhoo, check for the right voltage. If you are getting over, lets say 13.4, you SHOULD be okay if you are not running stereo amps, or other high draw items. Are you?

              ok i got the car running and the mechnic checked it out and its ok. my new belt squeaks under power? too tight, need to break in? or just a noise to ignore

                Could be gremlins.. Who knows? I suspect what was said above, bad/corroded terminals.
