  • Knocking. front end. help?

    ok i need some ideas.

ive had this knocking for a while.

i know i have a bad transmission mount. but that doesnt knock when the car is sitting still. and where the knocking sounds like its from. isnt the tranny.
i can sit still and punch the accelerator and theres no knocking. so i really dont think its the mount. any way.

i replaced so much on the front.

    new control arms.
new sway bar to control arm bushings.
    Bearings.
    tie rod ends. outer
    Struts.
    strut mounts.

when i got the tie rod end put on the mechanic said i had a bad bearing. but i had just replaced them so im not sure. it doesnt make a grinding noise or a loud humm. doesnt pull to that side or anything.

The Car does make this noise when i jack the car up. ( i use the shipping hook things under the front of the car to jack it up.)

i was thinking it could be the sway bar bushing up under the front end.

it makes this noise randomly when driving. sometimes over bumps. when i accelerate through turns. turn into a gas station with a not so nice entrance bump.

seems to be when the weight is shifted. please. let me know of any other ideas.

    Thanks.

and ps. my engine started leaking bad. but doesnt show it on the dip stick. just can see a spray on the firewall and the under of the hood. then drops on the ground. looks like its spinning off the alternator belt. i dotn know where that from. but it doesnt show it on the dipstick. from the mess its making it looks like a pretty big leak. but theres always decent oil in it. small leak.

and i have a loss of power. cant even spin the tires with the new struts. (heard a knock while trying that as well.)

any ideas are welcom on that as well.

i was going to do oil pan gasket considering thats a easy one to do. and i have a whole scrap engine in my garage.

did you tighten the nut up good that holds the strut to the strut mount good? i forgot to about three weeks ago and mine did the same thing till i popped the little dust cap off under the hood and tighten it up. no more knocking.

The aspire knocks (pops) when taking off or switching gears. I shot some grease in where the lower control arm connects to the unibody and it stops for a while. It has did it with two control arms not sure for why.

i went cheap when i replaced them and theres no grease fitting.

but it doesnt seem like its the control arm. its fairly new. and i tightend everything up to torque specs since i got a nice torque wrench for christmas. =]
