i have changed alternator and battery in 93 gl with airconditioning and after a week it started to act up again. the battery goes dead and the charging warning light does not come on. there is power in the battery and it takes a slight jump start to get it going again and it also happens on short trips.

i had a similiar problem last week, the battery died so i got a new one and the new one died because it wasn't getting and charge from the alt,but the alt tested good, so i put a new belt on and it runs fine now. but it squeaks now i i have no idea why its doing that.

Wiring between the alt and the battery may be corroded/bad
Check the heavy wire on the back of the alt....then follow it back al the way to the battery chacking every connection on the way. Also check the battery neg conections.

Likely, unless you did not put enough tension on the belt, or you have a power draw somewhere....Do you have any aftermarket stereo equipment, say an amp with a mosfet? I once had one that I just ran a always hot lead to the remote start, it would kill the battery in cold weather......I finally learned better practices ....

It could be belt squeal, check the tension. I ended up put a locking washer on mine years ago, it would slowly come loose no matter how tight I cranked the bolts.
Also, the cheapo depot belts they sell at autozone and advanced auto in my area, even the so called "best" ones, suck, in my experience. Go to carquest or napa, get some good rubber.....

well after charging battery and sitting all night it started up this morning and i will let it sit tonight to see if it will start in the morning. on the fuse panel i saw a fuse marked "room"
what does it power?

Room - ECA, interior lamp system, audio system, shift lock control (ATX), luggage compartment lamp.

well during the time i checked the tension of the belt again i noticed that there was some oil on the pullies so i cleaned it up and it is charging good now.
