  • What would you do while engine is out?

My car is a 91 FI auto with air. I will be replacing the engine soon due to two dead cylinders and high oil consumpion.

What else would you do while the engine/tranny is out?

    Thanks

    David

Go through the rack and pinion! This is the time to change the inner tie rod ends, and install new boots, or put in a rebuilt unit. IIRC Roger at FMS sells with an exchange a rebuilt for about 180.00 if you want to go that route, or he has boots etc. also, look at your brake lines where they pass through the inner fenders out front. They like to corrode there, and it is much easier to get to them now to install new ones.

:1: or even go as far as to weld the extra holes and bondo/smooth it out. Get a working plan together to hide all wires. Would clean it up nicely You gunna paint your engine? I would If I were you!

Flush the heater core and rad.
Pull the rad if it's not out and wash the fins.
Connect some hoses to the heater core and prop/tape up the other ends...higher than the core...then fill it with some antifreeze...this will keep it from rusting out from the inside.
Not a bad idea to also fill the rad with some fluid to keep the seals wet.
