  • lighter... ahh

    Okay i want to fix my car lighter... but the wires are cut so short i can barely reach them trough the cd player opening is there a easier way to access them cause my frin is willing to lend me there gps for the trip to Chicago and well my lighter is broke.. and i don't' want to rip out the entire dash to get to them...

    oh and i have cuts all up my hand trying to get the wires attached to new wires i don't know but there is something shap.

    Maybe try taking out just the ashtray and getting to the wires from underneath.

      Or get a aftermarket lighter and tap into a 12v source.

        i accessed the wires thru the ashtray.take out ashtray, it's still tight,but can be done.

            did u make sure to check your fuse?
            Proud owner of 92L, 350KM, Home made muffler, sounds like a truck! 16 years without replacement of anything but filters! 5spd EFI, Anyone else's shifter look like its from a quarter-ton?

              ^^his wires were cut by previous owner......now he needs to connect it to the lighter

                i'm talking pretty short it's maybe this long _____________
                i'm having trouble getting to it and well pretty much grasping it in all i think i might have to take out some of the dash... but i dono..

                  In my car the previos owner ran wiring from the battery directly to the lighter. With a fuse in the hot wire of course.
                  1988 p.o.s. (228,000 and still going)

                    Take the fuse out...that way when the lighter goes you'll have a back up as the wires ignite.

                      okay how can i tell if it's working right i think my lighter is bad cause i got it hooked up and i used one of those tools with the light in it to see if the wires were hot and well my lighter isn't working still...
