I want to replace the fusible links in Levistiva. Which jy cars do the cartridge style fuses come out of? Or what style, serial #, type of McAuto Parts Store fuses work?

It's just the standard female style fuses... They can be had at any local autoparts store.
I'm running 20A (blue) on the outsides, and 30A (pink) in the middle. If I recall correctly, the original links were rated at 15 and 25... I wouldn't go much higher than that or you may have a fire hazard.Simon - pimptiva.com

FWIW - If you've got a local junkyard around you... I found 30+ fuses in my trips through just the Ford section the last time I was there... I was trying to track down a problem with the main fuse blowing... I went to our autoparts store and paid $4 PER FUSE... I grabbed the 30+ fuses from the yard, along with a handfull of other things and they didn't even charge me for them.
They were in any "regular" (non Festiva) car I came upon... usually under the hood, covered by the fuse box... Probes, Escorts, I think even the Aspire?...Simon - pimptiva.com

Female is the key word. Last time I was at the jy, I found these fuses that resemble ours under the dash, but were flippin' huge. I grabbed them, knowing they weren't right, but thought they were cool looking.
Pink and blue huh? Levistiva will think I'm getting her all fancied up to take to the dance!ENFORCER - Midwest Festiva Inc., Iowa

I generally scarf them from Mazda under hood fuse boxes (323's, 626's, 929's, MPV's, etc.)
The Pink and green ones.
Let me see if I have pics I used last time this came up!'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

Hope the exclamation point is not intended to be a reminder of the search button. I try not to ask typical newb questions. I've only seen this topic mentioned one time and can't even find it.
I saw that Packrat, el camino1 and Musclecar1 had them in their cars while in Ozark. I remembered that Kemp told me to swap to them and I just remembered today......what, that's only like a month to remember something. Obviously my mind is sharp as a tack!!! I remember seeing this posted before as well... I did a search before posting my reply too so that I could see if there were pictures of it, but came up empty.
Pu - Why the green? Isn't that a 40A? I don't know for sure, but that seems like too much to push if something DOESN'T fry the fuse, but starts melting wires...Simon - pimptiva.com

No levitan, I'm not that sutle!
Though you do bring up a good point!
I and others worked someone through it before, but I can't find it either.
Think I even posted a pic with it too!
Might be older topic than I though!'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

think Pink = 30 amps
should be 35 for center and 25 for flanking fusable links, I think.
But those values are hard to find.
Been running these in mine and my wifes festivas for the last 5-6 years without issue!
Don't think 5 amps will make much difference if something is shorted(will burn wires at 35 amps too), but might make difference if battery is low and charging system is asking for more amperage than the main 30 Amp fuse will permit to pass!'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

I have been using the 30/20 (pink/blue)combo for a couple of years, and this includes times that the battery was totally flat on that particular car due to wiring problems on one, and just sitting all winter on the other. No blowouts. PAL fuses are definately the way to go, and are inexpensive to boot. As I understand it, there is an old TSB on the subject Ford sent out stating that 40 on the main was what they recommended however.

Here's a shot of mine... Been running this in Casper since I re-wired it last May... And I was running all of the Pimptiva's before the same way.
I think the green 40A is too high from what I recall. I thought the sides were originally 15, and the middle was 25... Thus stepping up to 20's and a 30 was the max?
Could be wrong... But here's a shot...Simon - pimptiva.com

Yeah yeah, old thread , whatever ! At least I searched. Do they type fuses come in 15 & 25 AMP. Im wanting to switch over and all I can find are 20 amp and 30 amp. No in between sizes. I dont like the baby blue and pink color code of the 20s and 30s.sigpic

Fresh,I use these!
Yes, they are higher than recommended amperage(30-40-30) but have had No issues in 5 yrs on both my car as well as my wifes.
Beauty is you can get then out of the JY for free or about $2.50 each at a McParts place.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

EEEgads!!!! PU, you are color clashing!!!!!
Fresh isn't in touch with his feminine side enough to use pink fuses is what the problem is! You know Fresh, you could use some of your fingernail polish to change the color of the pink. Not your expensive glitter polish, just your Dollar Store cheap stuff. Like black, when you are in the Goth mood!
