checking manual transmission fluid

disconnected speedometer cable and removed the 10mm bolt that holds the drive gear. tried to remove the drive gear but it would't come out. i could move it back and forth about a half an inch but it wouldn't lift out. is there a trick to getting the gear out?

gotta crawl under and tap it with a screwdriver and a hammer. Same with putting it back in.

It's a plastic gear and it meshes pretty tight.

It has an o-ring seal that is probably swollen up. Just keep wiggling and pulling up at the same time. :wink:

if u keep turning it one way it should push it back up.
