  • Need help removing window crank and

I am currently trying to take the window cranks and inside door handles off my Festiva, and I don't want to break anything. Does anyone know how to remove them without damaging anything. I took the obvious screw out of the door opener and their is like a "rod that turns 90 degrees" and goes threw a "circular thing" on the door opener. Can't seem to get them separated.

    TY, ChrisHills.

if you pull out slightly on the window crank you will see a clip that you can pop off with a flat head screw driver. The door opener has a plastic clip that snaps onto that rod you mentioned. You have to unclip it with a flathead screwdriver or something like that and then you will be able to pull the rod out of the handle.

To get the window crank clip off, use a rag to slip under the crank and it will pop off the clip. If you're in the grass or rough surface, put a tarp underneath so you don't lose the little horseshoe shaped clip.

I just took my inside door panel off and lubed everything last week. The window was stiff last winter. A bit of white grease on the verticle track did the trick. To remove the window crank, like the man said, place one edge of the rag between the crank handle and the panel and pull back and forth. One time should do it. To reinstall the clip I pushed it back on with the blade of a screwdriver.

I do what Karl does... A small rag in the crank and it'll pop the little clip right off. I've lost my fair share of them though, so keep an eye on it (or... If you pull it just enough, you can have the handle actually pop off while the clip is still "mostly on"...)

for that all you need to do is snap it back on the handle while the handle is off....then it will push right over the stem and pop back into place.

I take a paperclip unbend it and put a hook on one end. Grab the clip with it. Works every time.

Unloosen the door panel. Then move the panel back. Will give you more room to remove the clip.

Yep like others have said you can use a rag. I use some type of wire like speaker wire. And be careful you dont want to lose the "Jesus!" clip!
