I got an 89 Festiva with "K" VIN, so obviously its carbed. My dilema is: why do I have an O2 sensor mounted in the header? I thought only fuel injected cars had O2's so the ECU knew how much fuel to dump, right?
thnx

Sorry but it was not obvious to me that a K meant carbed. You say header....does it actually have a header on it or just the stock exhaust on it? Maybe somone changed the down pipe. Is it hooked to anything?

I'm a little hunk of tin, nobody knows what shape I'm in. I've got four wheels and a running board, I'm not a Chevy, I'M A FORD!
The stock carb uses the computer to meter the fuel too. It uses a stepping valve(ABCV) mounted on the pass side of the carb for this.

NO KIDDIN? wow! ...What I am doing is building a small hydrogen generator and will be putting it into the Festiva. The small 1.3 Liter engine stock making around 40-42 MPG with the help of the free gas, I should get at least 55-65 MPG. Im waiting for the O2 enhancer to fool the computer that the engine is running reach to cut down on fuel supply and substitute the mixture w/ Hydrogen.

Are you serious? Or just yanking the chain of the response you got to your O2 question? Sounds mighty interesting if you serious.
Ever think about generating your own methane gas and just converting it to run both gas and methane? Compressin the gas is my problem, as I cannot figure out how to get a compressor that will do the 3K psi. Thanks justthe same though.
Very serious...no pressure is necessary, the gen is on demand. Go on youtube, or even eBay and type in "HHO" generator or fuel and just go with it. Basically you are breaking down H2O (water) into HHO, which is 10 times more efficient then gasoline. I'm not to the point to produce enough of gas to power the Festiva 100% on hydrogen but I'm hoping on 35-50%. Tons of research has been done since 1990's but due to oil companies interfearing w/ the research for obvious reasons ( them getting rich) this has not been put to good use. Please guys, go do a small research and lets get them ol little cars goin hydrogen! Let them laugh at our cars making 60 MPG! hahahahah

The first three places of the VIN code are the so-called "manufacturer identity information".
If you are referring to the first space, it it a "K" because it was built in Korea. As far as i know, any car built in Korea will have a K as the first letter in the VIN.
I am not aware of any "K" meaning a "carb" (Karb)? Where did you get this information?
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

The whole HHO generator thing is a scam....I've seen it on different tv shows testing the various devices..never works.
Here is a good link to why they dont work:
I read your article...very informative. If you do as much study and see what other people have managed to acomplish you'll see that: in order to have the ECU tell the injectors to dump less fuel is to fool the O2 sensor, well thats whay you need to do that-I've done that and farely cheap...I think for about $60. The 1.3 liter engines that we have in our Festivas need about 1-2 liters of fuel/air mixture per minute, well, I believe that I am on the right track to have build a hydrogen generator to make at least 1-1.5 liters of pure hydrogen/oxygen mixture. I believe very strogly that I can get out little engine to get up to at least 55-65 MPG! I will update the site with pics when its all done. Of course, I will be upgrading to a 5 speed tranny, to slightly larger wheels and tires to offset the RPM to speed ratio a little and so on... But again, I don't believe in conspiracies but the oil companys got me thinkinking the other way. We landed a man on the moon in the 60's and in 2008 we still rely on gasoline even more then in the 60's! please give me a break, someone has to do something about it. All the studies and articles are cotroled by who? The government, yes freedom of speach bla, bla, bla, no! When there's big money under the tables exchanging hands there's no progress. By this summer or so we will be looking at $5 a gallon! Keep sitting in your chair and dont do anything...I'm not

just a thought i had while i was pondering through the woods.. and this article reminded me.. Lead acid batteries make hydrogen gas while charging, electric cars often use lead acid batteries. Do the batteries make enough hydrogen gas to warrant an electric/hydrogen hybrid?
