    Exactly! That's why I think it may be two seperate issues, one being bad cables, the other as yet unknown. Thanks.

      The VAF is the meter on the intake box/hose. If the cable that connects to that would fall off, the car will die.

      As said above, that wouldn't stop the car from starting, that would stop it from running though.

        To all those mentioning the VAF...BRILLIANT. Once the car is started, the fuel pump relay is kept energized by the VAF. If the cut out problem is more frequent than not...it would be a good idea to start the car....install the fuel pump service jumper...drive around...and see if the problem goes away.

          I pulled on the VAF while it was running. Didn't disconnect it all the way but I did notice that after 10-20 seconds it did die. It did restart though, which goes against what PO said. (But then I did fix the battery cables already). I just wish there was a definitive way I could say YES, that was totally the problem...
