Since I started driving my car a little over a month ago, it has intermittently had poor throttle response. Engine speed would not increase until a couple seconds after you put your foot down. It would only do this maybe once a week, so i didn't think much of it. Yesterday it got really bad, and would not go away, like barely moving at wide open throttle in first gear. It wont run with my foot off the gas, and when i pump it, response is slow. I started and revved it a bit today, and before I knew it the catalyitic converter was overheated. I figure from too lean a mixture coming through the exhaust system. I replaced the plugs earlier in the week, and the old ones' electrodes were white, like the car had been running lean. This and the general behavior of the car leads me to believe it is a fuel delivery issue. I replaced the fuel filter today, hoping that it was the problem. It wasn't. Before I spend $45 on a fuel pump, does anybody have any ideas what else this could be? Whats the best way to test fuel pressure on a carbed Festy? What should a nominal fuel pressure reading be?
