  • Switch on gas pedal

When I ripped out the A/C from the donor Festiva, I noticed a switch (connected to the A/C wiring harness) on the gas pedal that would press when the pedal is returned to idle. I looked at other A/C equipped Festivas and found no such switch. What was the purpose of this? I thought it was an idle up switch, but heard no change in RPMs when idling. Perhaps it is and I connected it wrong? Why would this particular Festiva have a switch and none of the others?

Can anyone explain this to me?

On a side note, the condensor also had a fan attached to it; the other Festivas didn't.

    Regards,

if I remember correctly, that's an idle validation switch. its job is to tell the ecu that the current tps reading is equal to closed throttle. factory a/c equipped cars had the condenser fan, and I think dealer installed units did not.
