  • Plugged vac line, unplugged electrical connectors [pics]

If you read my one other thread, you'll see that I'm having idle problems only when the engine is warm. Please take a look at the below pics and you'll see a plugged vacuum line. Could this be the cause? What is it?

Also look at the pics for a wiring harness that has a few connections that are unplugged. I don't see anything that they would plug into anyhow. They are also bound tight and have no room to go anywhere themselves. Also, there is a stray connection on the firewall that again is unplugged.

This is on a 90 Festy with AT.

    Please advise!

    Thanks!

    -Nick.

Does your engine bay smell like tranny fluid?

anyway. on my 90 L plus (auto) that line is plugged as well.

theres a lot of un connected wires in mine as well.

I'm not an ATX guy but I thing the plugged line is the breather lin for the tranny case....take a closer look at the plug....you might find that it is not a solid plug but rather a sintered filter.

The unused connectors....several normally exist in that location....they include the STI, Fuel pump jumpe and Tach output form the ignition. Best would be to peel back some of the tape and post the wire colors for conformation.

Erm, well I dunno. I don't think so? If you're being sarcastic about the wetness over everything, I have a terrible oil leak that I'm procrastinating on...

The six and one pin connectors are OBDI diagnostic ports. The plugged line looks like a vent for the transmission. Don't know about the one by the wiper motor though. Fix the oil leak, then worry about the idle problem.

Well the only leak comes and goes. Some days it POURS oil and i'm putting in a quart or more a day. Other times it's just a few drops. What gives?

I'd like to hope it's just the pan, but it's probably an internal seal and the engine needs to be pulled. Which I've never done and I don't want to do.
