Update on my car's Idle Trouble
ok first when you started the car it would run up to 4000 RPMs & then I got it down to 3500 but it wouldn't back down at all......NOW its going up to 3500 & backing off to 3000.....Whats the good idle RPM for our festy's & any suggestion on getting it lower....(The throttle cable is loose theres some slack in the cable)...
Also there is a blue wired connect that comes out from under the distributor that has no mate...where does this go?
Still have alot of vacuum lines that I have no clue if they are important or where they go...please help if ya can
Thanks Guys

The purple arrow is pointing to the field terminal and the regulator terminal. You should have a plastic plug with 2 wires connected to plug into this spot. If your engine is idling at 4 or 5 grand, you have got to have something holding the throttle plate(s) open. Check the secondary side of the carb. The throttle cable is connected to the primary side and there is a diaphragm with a short round shaft connected to the secondary. Find the secondary and try to turn the shaft to close it. You would be pulling that little round shaft away from the diaphragm. Make sure the fast idle cam drops out of the way when the choke comes off, too.You gonna race that thing?

Thanks again....Done figured this one out but there is another one I have going also ....thanks again for all your help

Is the wire circled in yellow blue with a yellow stripe? If so it connects to the blue wire from the dist. and your connector must be cut off I guess.
Then in the top vaccuum hose picture on mine it is going to the bottom of a soleniod looking thing on the pass. side firewall. The same one that has a vaccuum line with the green round thing on it. haha these arn't very technical directions but ask questions if you don't understand what I'm talking about.
