    i cant find my little book, what kind of tranny fluid do i need to buy and how much as well??

    For a MTX use Mercon IV or V.
    Please provide appropriate data when asking for assistance.

              Having never owned an auto I'm going to have to look that up!
              It would make sense that that would be the case but I should verify!
              Both of you really should have either or both a Hanyes or the ford manual.
              They can be very handy and are not too expensive!

                The auto takes the Mercon, too. The only difference is that the MTX takes 2.6 quarts and the auto takes around 5 quarts. (5.6, I believe)

                I forgot to drain the tranny Monday when I was changing my drive axles, so I had to look it up in the owner's manual to see what to put back in after I dumped it all over my driveway. The owner's manual had the capacity of both in it.
